'The collection': shoes and handbag cupcakes

The Collection
@Butterfly Cakes Bradford

These cupcakes are a real favourate of mine. It was my first attempt at shoes and handbags of which I am really proud!  They were designed and made by hand without the use of cutters or stencils. I loved designing each topper, even though it took me absolutely hours! It was truly a labour of love. After all, which girl would not like to create her very own collection of bespoke accessories?

Flower Pearl cupcakes

I wanted to create a selection of tea time cupcakes in traditional buttercream that looked as attractive as they tasted. So I began by baking some chocolate cupcakes and making a batch of vanilla buttercream. I then added touches of pinks and lilacs and ended up creating different flowers using various piping nozzles. To finish, I added touches of pearlised fondant accents. They turned out pretty fab, even if I must say so myself....

Three tier 'Hello Kitty' Cake

This week I was told to make a three tier 'Hello Kitty' Cake for a birthday girl on her first birthday.

I began by making my fondant 'Hello Kitty'...

I was given the colours pink, white and red, which I eventually covered each of my cakes in.

As the bottom layer looked a bit blank I ended up cutting out strips of pink, red and black fondant to add depth and break up the scattered floral and heart pattern on the top two tiers.

Here's how it turned out...

Two tier Disney princess cushion cake

This weekend I was given the task of a two tier Disney princess cushion cake for a four year old birthday girl. This was my first attempt at a cushion cake and was very challenging and exciting. This is how my cushion turned out.

It was made out of two 8 inch madeira cakes and filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant...

The end result. A two tier Disney princess cake. The bottom tier was made from a 12 inch victoria sponge filled with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant.

Strawberry roses

This is a four layer buttery white cake with strawberry jam filling and strawberry flavour Swiss meringue buttercream frosting. I have wanted to make a ombre rose cake for a while and love the shaded pink/white effect. This cake is ideal for a mother's day/birthday cake for any lady.

'Take two' on the ombre rose cake.

This time I used a '2D' rose tip to pipe the roses and traditional buttercream...
