Floral Crown Cake

'Floral crowns' are a great way to enhance bridal beauty, but ever thought of crowning a cake? Well this design does just that. It's a perfect cake for spring/summer weddings with it's soft tones and touches of the traditional 'whites'.  The side-bow adds an elegant touch and 'completes the look'.

This cake was donated for a silent auction for a Macmillan fund-raiser event held at a local venue.

Red Rose and Pearl Three Tier Wedding Cake

Last week I was busy making a tiered wedding cake. So I began by baking my six, eight and ten inch round vanilla sponge cakes. I then  layered each of them with strawberry jam and two layers of vanilla bean buttercream and covered them in fondant.....

I then stacked the cakes and added my pre-made fondant rose and leaf embellishments....

I also added my pre-made fondant pearls......

As a final 'Butterfly Cakes' touch I added my signature pearlised hand-made fondant butterfly.....

Three tier 'Hello Kitty' Cake

This week I was told to make a three tier 'Hello Kitty' Cake for a birthday girl on her first birthday.

I began by making my fondant 'Hello Kitty'...

I was given the colours pink, white and red, which I eventually covered each of my cakes in.

As the bottom layer looked a bit blank I ended up cutting out strips of pink, red and black fondant to add depth and break up the scattered floral and heart pattern on the top two tiers.

Here's how it turned out...

Two tier Disney princess cushion cake

This weekend I was given the task of a two tier Disney princess cushion cake for a four year old birthday girl. This was my first attempt at a cushion cake and was very challenging and exciting. This is how my cushion turned out.

It was made out of two 8 inch madeira cakes and filled with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant...

The end result. A two tier Disney princess cake. The bottom tier was made from a 12 inch victoria sponge filled with raspberry jam and vanilla buttercream and covered in fondant.
